The Medical Director, is a key member of the Senior Executive Management Team and is responsible for providing medical leadership and expertise to the hospital primarily through the development, implementation and evaluation of the hospital’s medical practice delivery model.
Must hold or be eligible to be licensed as a Specialist/Consultant according to the guidelines of the Dubai Healthcare City Authority (DHCA) licensing department.
An advanced degree in healthcare or business administration is highly desirable.
Minimum of 5 years relevant senior leadership experience in a hospital or healthcare environment is essential.
Must be experienced in the selection, assessment and evaluation of physicians in medical and surgical specialties.
Must have the experience in chairing key committees related to patient safety, clinical accreditation, clinical quality, ethics, and clinical review.
Proven experience leading quality improvement projects would be a definite advantage.
Must be capable of planning for and implementing new clinical services.
Must be proficient and confident in managing medico-legal issues appropriately.
Demonstrable track record of sound financial and operational management in a Senior Leadership position.
Must be an excellent negotiator and should be able to influence and persuade regarding complex or sensitive issues.
Must have the experience in providing guidance and mentorship to physicians.
Must have the ability to analyze, interpret and communicate complex clinical information.
Should be capable of providing leadership to senior nursing and allied health leaders.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; Arabic language skills are well regarded.
Excellent report writing and presentation skills will be an advantage.
Demonstrated people management and leadership skills is expected of this role.
Must have sound understanding on financial management including budget planning and resource allocation.
High level computer proficiency.
Must have the experience working collaboratively in a multi-cultural environment.
Healthcare experience within the region preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
High level of interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to function effectively under pressure is expected.

Develop the strategic goals for the clinical areas of the hospital in alignment with the company corporate objectives
Work as a dynamic, innovative leader using a strong influencing style to ensure that the hospital is run effectively and efficiently.
Provide guidance and mentorship to all part-time, visiting and full-time physicians within the hospital.
Provide leadership to the Nursing Director and other department heads as delegated by the hospital Director.
Responsible for working with the HR Department to source, interview and select highly qualified physicians and relevant allied health staff to work at the hospital.
Leads the Privileging and Credentialing process for all physicians.
Develops key clinical indicators to be used in performance assessment of the physicians.
Chairs or oversees the key hospital committees including, but not limited to, Medical Affairs Board; additionally designee for committees such as Clinical Research Committee, Ethics Committee and Clinical Quality and Patient Safety Committee .
Responsible for leading quality improvement projects to enhance patient safety and satisfaction within the hospital.
Responsible for ensuring the successful accreditation (JCIA) of the clinical areas of the hospital.
Responsible for financial planning and management, including budget planning and resource allocation.
In collaboration with the Hospital Director, plans for and implements new clinical services.
Conducts and ensures that processes are in place for medical risk management.
Responsible for the development of report documents, such as the company Annual Report, as required by Senior Management.
Manages and successfully resolves patient complaints.
Ensures that a patient centered approach to care is maintained throughout the hospital .
