About the Role:
Primary objective of the job holder is to plan and implement activities of Emergency Response Team particularly responding to emergencies and drills as required within DP World Ports – Jebel Ali, Port Rashid and Hamriya in a quick and efficient manner in order to protect people, environment and prevent delay or closure of port operations.
Job holder must assist in developing the best practice response model across other business areas, develop first class training courses to outside bodies for business development and supervise as well as assist in developing a team of first line Emergency Responders and assets including 3 small vessels, equipments and supplies.
To coordinate use of marine emergency response equipment in the event of an emergency or drill to control and prevent further possibility of pollution, damage, injury, incident to the port at Jebel Ali, Port Rashid, or Hamriya
To ensure marine emergency response equipment is stored correctly, checked and maintained in a good working order and the store inventory is checked and kept fully stocked at all times
To coordinate with the crew regular inspections and minor maintenance of the marine emergency response equipment within the port of Jebel Ali such as cleaning, painting, minor repair of marine safety equipment to ensure waterways are free of debris and pollution
To coordinate with the crew members on marine emergency response team craft to meet operational requirements such as transfer of equipment from area to area and shore to ship and personnel from shore to ship
To carry out quality training in relation to Oil Spill, Hazardous Materials, First Aid, Firefighting and Health and Safety.
To develop a competency based evaluation system to ensure quality of responders skills
To act as On Scene Commander in any marine incident until a more senior person takes over
Prepares quality reports and proposals following training operations
Qualifications and Competencies:
Good Knowledge and understanding of English language both written and verbal.
3-5 years of experience with relevant exposure in supervision of an emergency response team
Valid UAE driving license
Oil spill response qualification IMO level 2
Marine Skipper License
Excel, Word, Powerpoint skills
